Editorial policy
This site takes a position and argues it. That is not the same as making things up, so here is how the arguing is kept honest.
Who writes it
Articles are written by Keith, Editor. Writes every article on this site, buys most of the products with their own money, and has strong opinions about waistbands.
Evidence and opinion
Where a claim rests on research, the research is named and its limitations are stated in the same breath. Small sample sizes, industry funded studies and findings that have never been replicated are labelled as such. Where a claim rests on folklore, tradition or received wisdom, it is called folklore rather than dressed up as science. Where something is simply our opinion about how clothes should fit and feel, it reads as opinion.
Health claims
Underwear attracts more confident medical claims than almost any other garment, most of them wrong in both directions. Nothing on this site is medical advice. Where a health question comes up, the article reports what the evidence actually shows, including when it shows very little, and points you at a doctor rather than a waistband for anything that matters.
Corrections
Errors get fixed rather than quietly deleted. A factual correction is made in the text and noted at the foot of the article with the date. If a recommendation stops being sensible, because a product changed or went out of production, the article is updated rather than left to rot. Corrections are welcome from anyone, including from brands we have been rude about.
Independence
No brand pays for coverage. No brand sees an article before publication. No brand has ever been given approval over wording, and if one asks, that request is worth an article of its own. Free samples are rare and are disclosed in the piece where they happen.
Sponsored content
There is none. If that ever changes it will be labelled at the top of the article, in the same size type as the headline, and it will still not affect anything else on the site.
How to complain
Corrections, missing context, dead links and disagreements are all welcome through the contact page. Complaints about the underlying argument are welcome too, though they are less likely to change anything.
